The virtual world of Second Life was created by Linden Labs in 2003. It is a 3D virtual world where the users can create and build anything their hearts can imagine. If it exists in the real world, it can be done in Second Life! But because it allows its
users to create an actual "second life", this means they can be anyone they want to become. And the world of "Role Play" has come to life within its walls. Love Star Wars or Harry Potter? Live out your dreams by role playing in a user created world focused around these topics. The virtual world of SL has something for everyone..even family role play!

St. Columba Catholic Boarding School was designed to simulate an old fashioned Irish Catholic boarding school from days long ago. It is part of an entire Irish Village called O'Hare's Gap where dozens of adults, kids and families work and live. For those that partake in our school, it becomes a family in and of itself where lifelong friendships are created and laughing is always on the menu. We portray ourselves as "very serious" when it comes to following rules, order and hierarchy. We wear our uniforms and follow the rule book word for word. But the humans behind the avatar spend much of their time laughing from the role play we create. In reality though, it's not ALL fun and games! Our classes are real. Our RP faculty teaches real subjects that our students find interesting and even though there may be adults behind those children, they always learn something new. Our prayer services are also real. We value faith and love and share this with all the families that reside in our Irish village. While you don't have to be Catholic, it certainly helps if you are religious. Our services are ecumenical. Our PG family safe role play is truly unlike any other schools in Second Life. We are truly proud of our school and all it offers.
